Dress up your iGoogle with custom skins
Google introduced a set of themes for your personalized homepage (or iGoogle) a few months back. But if you're looking for a few more customization options, check out this new Google gadget.
Once you install the gadget on your homepage, you can choose from a variety of custom skins, create your own, or submit themes for other users to install.
Some of the skins change the graphic behind the search bar at the top of your page and not much else, while others give your entire page a new look. Future version of the gadget will include a built-in skin editor.

how to remove? Your gadget shows up 2 times on my igoogle. Can't move it, can't remove it. after a reload everything is back again.

Another option for skinning your iGoogle is to add my gadget:

The goal of this gadget is to allow for much more customization of the page and better use of available space, not necessarily just to add pretty pictures behind the iGoogle search bar.
My gadget offers many more options (at the moment) but right now doesn't offer the ability to add/read from a directory of gadgets. I intend to do this as well.

can someone explain the warning before you activate the module? something about giving the author access to the cookies and whatnot?
thanks!

The warning is because the gadget must be "inlined" meaning embedded on the page rather than in a separate iframe. So if the gadget contains javascript, for example, it could access your google cookies and even change them if it was programmed to do so. I know of no malicious gadgets to date, but it's possible, so Google warns you about it first. You can always look at the XML/JS/CSS of the gadget to verify for yourself that there is nothing bad in there.

My entire iGoogle home page is messed up in both IE7 and Firefox on two different computers. I'm thinking is got to be the skins gadget. I can't disable it though, since I have no button to close the gadget. I tried catching the original page before the skin loaded, but that doesn't work. I've got weird messages at the top of the page, the layout is gone, and the gadges have all loaded strangely. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
