Answers Corp will acquire Lexico Publishing Corp, the company behind Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Reference.com.
According to the press release, Answers is interested in Lexico because:
- Lexico web sites generate about three times the number of page views Answers.com does
- There's plenty of room to increase money-making opportunities on the sites
- Lexico properties get a huge amount of traffic from people typing "dictionary" in a search engine, making it a lot easier for people to find Answers web properties without search engine optimization
