MySpace targets YouTube with MySpace TV
The New York Times reports that MySpace will launch a new video site tomorrow. Unlike MySpace's current video site, MySpace TV will be a standalone site allowing users to upload and share videos without a MySpace account. While MySpace is going head to head with YouTube in the user generated video space, the Fox News Corp-owned company is putting an emphasis on professional video. You can already watch Fox television programs through MySpace, and the site recently launched its "Minisode Network" with Sony, showcasing classic TV shows like Silver Spoons, Who's the Boss, and V.I.P. No, seriously.
MySpace plans to roll out an online video editing application later this year to compete with a similar service offered by YouTube.
