Windows Live Writer Beta 2 released
When we posted that the commercial WSIWYG blogging application Post2Blog had gone freeware, one reader pointed out that it looked a lot like Windows Live Writer. While Post2Blog had a number of features missing from Live Writer, (and still does), Microsoft has released a major update to Live Writer with support for:
- Live spell checking
- Table editing
- Categories, tags, and labels (depending on your platform)
- Available in 6 languages
- Support for new APIs

Downloaded and installed it on top of the old version without any problems. The new Beta looks nice but I have not managed to try using it. Once up and running, the new Beta 2 seems to REALLY eat up CPU cycles on my PC (using XP)and has already frozen my PC twice. Is it just me?

After spending 4+ hours, I discovered that on my PC, Live Writer Beta 2 triggers svchost.exe into running my CPU at 100%. I can't seem to get it back to what it was before. The solution seems to be to turn off windows auto update. So beware.
