Swaptree to leave private beta on July 4th
The site staff posted this tounge-in-cheek anouncement earlier this week, "if you hear lots of fireworks and oohs and ahs that day, it's probably just another excited swaptree member. "
They have the humor of a Web 2.0 company, we'll soon see if they have the business model and braintrust to back it up.

Be tough to beat Craiglist on this score. That's where the audience is. There's a reason we don't hear about Yahoo Auctions, MSN Auctions anymore, and that's because everyone was at ebay. Same with classifieds, the audience is at craigslist.

Actually, it is nothing like Craigslist. A whole lot better. I participated in the beta, and really really dig it (and will soon Digg it). There's a pretty cool browsing and matching engine, a simple way to actually process and execute the trades (including complex multi-swaps - the so-called Kevin Bacon algorithm), and even printing postage/mailing labels online. I've swapped/received CD's, DVD's, and books thus far. Haven't swapped a game yet, but hope to.
