Microsoft working on split-screen computer sharing
Microsoft is working on technology that will allow two people to easily use a single computer at the same time. Basically, the software creates two virtual desktops on one monitor, and allows you to plug in a second mouse and keyboard so that two users can work on the same machine at once.Sure, those on the bleeding edge of technology would rather have one computer and two monitors all to themselves. But in countries where computer access is limited, this is a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck when buying one PC.
Users can also easily share files between the two desktops just by scrolling their mouse over to the other side of the screen.

Hmmm... what'd be cool would be this technology... on a higher end system with 2-4 screens... multipul mouse points/exctra would rock.

I've ALWAYS thought this made sense... On a larger scale, you could have one fast computer with like 8 sets of screens and peripherals in a place where people might only need to say, do word processing or e-mail (like a library, for example). Or even at my house, I have 1 computer in my room, but two screens... Sometimes my friend wants to use the computer, and i have to give it up or make them wait. I've never understood why this wasn't already common!

Me too! Of course, performance might suffer a little bit, but it's an awesome concept!
