Evite threatens to sue Socializr
Is there room in this town for two event planning/invitation web service (this town being you know, the whole world)? Evite owners Ticketmaster seem to think there's not. They've sent a letter to Socialzr threatening legal action over similar invitation templates and web design. At issue are Socializr's "Holiday," and "Hawaii Luau" invitation styles, which Evite says are identical to templates on its own site. The two styles have been removed from Socializr's site, but "Winter Celebration," which Evite claims is similar to a design on its site remains.
To be honest, the Winter Celebration designs look pretty different. Sure they're both blue and white and have snowflakes. But what do you expect for a winter theme? And if you look closely, you'll see that the snowflakes on each design look different. See, it's true. No two snowflakes are the same. Unless you send the same invitation twice.

I find both designs offensive, as they both contain snowflakes without 6-fold symmetry.
I'll therefore stick to email invitations to my wintry events.

I find it not the least bit surprising that those TYRANNIC scumbags over at TICKETMASTER -
(You know, the company that charge 25%-40% 'convenience' fees over the list cost of tickets for the presumed 'covenience' of having to buy tickets from their corporate MONOPOLY)
- would fight to disable a competing website that threatened their 'unquestionable' authority over invitations.
When will somoene BESIDES Pearl Jam rise up and form a class-action against TicketBASTARD?
