I have been using vista for 2 months. i got it with my new HP pavilion m7790y. I wish i could say that i am impressed with vista. But I am far from it.
Just to let you all know, I designed it myself of course. just like HP let's you do on their site.
Prior to the release of vista after i built it to compare to some dells and so on. the price of it was only $1150.
After Vista came out. however that same build went to $1450 due to the extra memory and graphics card that i had to get so vista would run smoothly without slowing the machine down.
I preferred getting it with XP pro. but after calling customer service before getting the Computer they told me they were not pre installing XP anymore. So, i had no choice but to go with Vista.
Now i got about $300 worth of games collecting dust on the shelf here and most are not even a year old.
Not to mention some software and hardware companies are trying to cash in on vista by saying that they wont build drivers or fixes for the vista operating system and want us to buy new versions or new hardware for it.
I am not happy with vista at all. it's a pretty girl with no personality. but i guess some people like that. I just ordered a copy of XP pro from tiger direct and it should be here in a few days. when it get's here XP will go into the new HP. I might keep my Vista recovery disk and wait until it comes around in several months. But right now it is very costly and useless.
And I do agree with some of you. Vista sales don’t count if Walmart ordered a ton of computers with vista pre installed. Into them. but if they are sitting in the back on their warehouse floor. That is not sales. That is considered dead stock. Of course if they don’t sale they may even start to send them back. So it is really to early to tell if vista is a big seller.
But then I was in Walmart the other night and they had a section with pc games and on the shelves display above the games was the Vista logo. And all the games on the shelves were all for XP and ME. Goes to show you the ignorance of some people and ignorance might just boost those Vista sales.
I did bring it to the managers attention. I asked him why he had the Vista logo on top of a shelf full of games for XP and ME. I even suggested it could have been and oversight. But whispered to myself stupidity and ignorance. Of course I have not been in there since so who knows if anyone ever listened.
