I don't think being clueless about relative pay in your field means you're 'being taken advantage of'. It means you expect other people to care more about you than you do yourself.

Are you truly being paid less than you're worth? Rectify it yourself-- if you're worth what you think it'll be the easiest negotiation ever. And blame no one but yourself for your prior laziness and ignorance.
