Owen, indeed you have spoken like someone who relies on the mouse to COPY and PASTE. Hunting for menuitems with one hand on your kiddie keyboard and the other hand glued on your ball mouse.

People who use and rely on Photoshop know what a godsend those hidden features and shortcuts are. It streamlines the workflow and makes the job a lot easier.

Without the distinguishing features, Photoshop would be just another Microsoft paint on steroids.
