Flickr Uploadr for Mac: the quickr solution
I have recently emerged from the dark ages and taken my place in line as one of the last people on earth to start using Flickr (this was prompted by mother's constant long-distance requests to see pictures of her grandson who recently turned, um, eight). I finally got around to offloading birthday party pics from my camera, but the prospect of emailing them across the miles was daunting at best, so I resurrected my long-dead Flickr account to see what I've been missing. Uploading photos to Flickr is a pretty straightforward process but it went even more quickly after I downloaded Flickr Uploadr for Mac (there is also a Windows version available). This simple little tool supports drag and drop from iPhoto or Finder, as well the ability to pull pics from a USB thumb drive or card reader.
Flickr Uploadr lets you name and tag photos, add a description, and adjust privacy settings before uploading to the service. It lets you work with photos on an individual basis or rapidly apply the same settings to a large batches of pictures with just a couple of clicks.
Though you still have to log into the site to access the mapping tool, adjust the "taken on" date, and perform other editing tasks, this nifty little app is perfect when you want to whip a bunch of photos into your Flickr account to stay on Mom's good side.

Thanks, hitkaiser, you're absolutely right. There's also a similar tool (at the same link) for uploading pictures from iPhoto that was created by a third party and not officially supported by Flickr. I'd love to hear from people who have tried it, as well as from people who know about any other cool Flickr tools lurking out there.

I use a Flickr Quicksilver plugin to quickly upload files. It uses filename for title, and opens your web browser to edit details of the uploaded files automatically.
Select photos in finder, command G, type "upl", tab over to add any tags, and hit enter.
I wouldn't upload a whole vacation with it, but it's great for doing 1 to 5 shots at a time.

There's another tool...
Called juploadr,
its a cross platform uplodr windows, mac, linux and offers a few more options than the regular flickr uploadr. I think it allows you to upload to zooomr as well.

After having just complete a large upload to flickr and trying several mac tools I found the uploader which is part of Flock to be my favorite.
One of the things I liked best was that when an upload died unexpectedly in the middle of uploading a set at least the pics that had already uploaded were in the set... and if I restarted the process the pictures that hadn't yet been uploaded were still loaded in the upload tool and ready to pick up where I left off
