Having personally tried it out, CricInfo 3D at this point of time nowhere close to the actual action on the field. My guess is that they have a selected animation set for certain plays and they show the one which most closely matches the action on the field.

More realistic is the one which ATP provides for tennis games. But then they take the easy way out and not show the players on the screen.
