Joost vs BitTorrent
There seems to be a little battle brewing down in video download land. Apparently BiTorrent's creator Bram Cohen had a few strong words against the team behind Joost at the recent VON New Video Summit earlier this week. Bram said that Joost was doing things the old media way, and not being innovative enough with their channel based concept. Bram believes that channels are just one of many ways that content can be organized.Cohen also let people know that BitTorrent has about ten times more video content than iTunes, and mentioned their upcoming play on demand P2P streaming.
Do we sense a little battle for the top player here in the online video distribution market? Has Mr. Cohen gone a little too far by dissing his competitors? Shouldn't he focus more on what his company can offer the public, rather than smash down the competition?

I have Joost. It's not that good. The quality is a little better than youtube or googtube or googlevideo. Anyways, if they can get quality content and quality video out I'd be impressed.

Maybe we should give him some credit, as we all have some version of BT running mad downloads and he's the guy to think it up.
Sometimes when you're that good, you have to say, man, that shit sucks. And maybe it does, maybe it don't, we don't need to be THAT worried about disparaging comments of such good thinkers.
Seems all we do is just post the news, and make comments on it. He MAKES THE NEWS and COMMENTS from Experience.

Wouldn't a better comparison be Joost vs. Democracy Player? Democracy Player is really bittorrent + RSS wrapped into a nice interface like Joost. That is the better comparison I think.
