Freemeter - keep tabs on your network connection

Better still, there's no installer and nothing complicated to configure. Freemeter can either hang out on your desktop in fully opaque or variably transparent trim or stay hidden away in your system tray for easy access. Also built in to this clever little utility is a simple traceroute and ping console, as well as the ability to act as a notifier for a single Pop3 or IMAP email account. For the adventurous, the source code is available.

doesn't work on any of my machines; must not like domain machines.

Freemeter works on my non-domain XP Pro SP2 x86 with all .NET stuff installed. No complains with it, it does the job.
If you can't get it to work, may I suggest a similar soft?
NetMeter 0.9.9.9 beta 2 (2004/03/02)

This freeware, non-open source soft seems to have a better logging feature, very slim as a Win32 app native, but no mailing feature or web interface and no traceroute or ping, but you know tracert.exe and ping.exe already, right?
I am surprised this hasn't been on Download Squad yet.

update: FreeMeter works on my co-workers machine; it's identical to mine, on a domain, etc.
