Shutdown Day - turn off, tune out, drop in
I spend way too much time in front of a computer; We all do. What would happen if you shut down for just one day? Shutdown Day asks you, and everyone else, to do just that. Almost 10,000 people have already pledged to shun their PCs and internet connections on March 24th, 2007. The video below, created by the Shutdown Day project, gives you a few examples of alternative uses for your laptop (warning, don't try any of these destructive activities with your actual day-to-day laptop).
The Shutdown Day site received a fair amount of publicity among the tech-heavy community at Digg, and has since been covered in several other outlets. What would the global impact actually be if a statistically significant number of Internet users pledged to log-off for one day, and then followed through?

Just to let you know, the Jewish community has been doing this for years. Every saturday, observant Jews have Shabbat (the Jewish word for Sabbath), in which no electrical devices are allowed to be used(amongst other laws). And, coincidentally enough, March 24 is a saturday.

I fully support this...
...it means I may actually get fast BitTorrent downloads.
