Viacom signs a deal with Joost
Just two weeks after they ordered YouTube to take down thousands of videos, Viacom has reportedly struck a deal with another online video site, Joost. A huge point of the deal being that Joost claims to be able to provide copyright protection that YouTube could not for their video. While no financial details of the deal were disclosed you can be sure that Viacom is more than likely walking away with a pretty big chunk of ad revenue as well.Joost is a video site from the makers of Skype and KaZaa that mimics a television station more than a video sharing site. User created videos will not be shown on the site in order to make way for videos by Warner and now apparently Viacom. Last week the site announced the availability of a new Mac client and they have recently announced deals to show National Geographic documentaries, classic cartoons, films from IndieFlix, and much more.
Joost is still in private beta and is only available for invited beta testers. You can apply to be a Joost beta tester here. Beta accounts are currently pretty scarce. I applied almost a month ago and still haven't been granted clearance.

Oops, I'm sorry, apparently I have not gained enough tokens. This is the system they use to grant permission to send out invitations, and i have none. But I've been using Joost since before it was named Joost. It looks to be very promising, however at this time, the only thing I find interesting on it, is the Explora channel, which is all documentaries.

I must have been waiting for more than a month, pretty much gave up on that hope. Basically, the only chance is to hope to get an invite.
Speaking of invites, anyone offering? Anyone?

Well I am more than willing to share two of my invites - send me an email over at gmail (just add @gmail at the end of my user name) to confirm that you haven't already gotten one - once I send them out I can't get them back! So I need to make sure they aren't wasted!
