iXit life: can widgets work on a 3 inch screen?

iXitI love me a good widget/gadget as much as the next guy. But I'm a bit dubious of widgets for PDAs or mobile phones. The beauty of a widget is that it lets you run multiple little processes in little windows, letting you do some word processing in a main window while quickly keeping tabs on breaking news, weather, or train schedules on the side.

But a PDA screen is essentially a little window. Dividing it up into smaller windows just makes it harder to tell what you're looking at. Nonetheless, iXit wants to bring widgets to your Windows Mobile device.

Widgets can be installed that show news updates, train schedules, or eBay listings. You can customize widgets to display more or less detail. Each widget is written in JavaScript, and runs on top of the the iXit life Desktop. That means you can't access widgets while looking at other programs, but rather have to run iXit life and then begin launching widgets.

You can pre-register for iXit Life for free at the company's web site. I get the feeling from the interface that the program will only run on Windows Mobile 5.0 and newer devices, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
