Apple and the Beatles agree to make love not war with new agreement

Apple"We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks" said Apple CEO Steve Jobs in a press release this morning.

It seems that Apple Inc. and The Beatles' company Apple Corps Ltd. have entered into a new agreement regarding the use of the name "Apple" and the Apple logo. The two companies had made an agreement in 1991 regarding the use of the name and logo. In recent years, however, the presence of Apple in the music industry has brought the previous agreement into question.

In the end, the Beatles have agreed to give in to Apple (who would have thought that would happen?) and Steve couldn't be happier, stating: "It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner, and in a way that should remove the potential for further disagreements in the future."

The settlement between the two companies is confidential, however one can image it was pretty impressive given Apple Corps' statement, "It is great to put this dispute behind us and move on... We wish Apple Inc. every success and look forward to many years of peaceful co-operation with them."

There is currently no word on whether the new peace between the two companies will mean the Beatles songs will be available in iTunes. The two companies' battle has previously kept all of the Beatles' songs out of iTunes.
