Make Firefox look like Internet Explorer
Are you unsuccessfully trying to switch someone in your life from Internet Explorer to Firefox? Some IE users say they are reluctant to make the switch from IE to Firefox because IE is the only web browser they have ever used. Now you can make the switch for them, without them ever knowing the difference.
John Haller has come up with a "How to Guide" for making Firefox look just like Internet Explorer. Haller maintains on his site that he created the "How To"" not as a tribute to IE but as a way to show everything Firefox is capable of doing, and how liking the IE layout is not a reason to stick with the browser. He furthers his point by saying "I still think Internet Explorer should be removed, placed in the corner and set on fire."
The tip can also be great for going undercover in places like schools and businesses that don't allow the use of open source software.
You can get relatively the same effect as John's guide by using the Firefox Add-on Neofox IE 6 which will make Firefox look like Internet Explorer 6.

Kinda silly, especially since IE 7 looks radically different than IE 6 anyway, and they'd have to learn a new browser soon anyhow.

I posted a mini-howto last week that shows you how to make Firefox look more like IE 7 in Vista.

My intention wasn't to make Firefox look like IE so that it would convince people to switch though. I think the IE 7 chrome fits in better with Vista's Aero UI, but I prefer Firefox as a browser for a number of reasons. I just wanted to combine the best of both. :)

I like it, and have used it in the past ;) I like the "response time" and peppiness (they respond fast when clicked...) of the menus in IE6...
But yea, I had to revert that IE7 update.....IE7 is SICK......so much for screen realestate with that bloat...the address/nav bar can't even be moved, hidden, or organized...

I have to admit that when I first started using Firefox(almost 2 years ago) I tried to make it look like IE 6. Doing so certainly helped me get use to Firefox. No extensions are involved, just changing the button placement.
Here's what it looks like with the customize menu open.

I use Firefox but its lack of workable APIs make using KeePass a bitch. I Still have to use MSIE with KeePass.

I LOVE the FirefoxEat.jpg (Above) Where can I find more? This one doesn't fit quite right to be my desktop wallpaper.
I am using the myFireFox Theme to make FF look like IE 7 to fool my wife. I expect a black eye, no dinner for a week, and perhaps no nookie for Valentines day, But it will be worth it!
Use all the other tools on John's page as mentioned above and you can get the look Very Close. With the myFireFox theme, you will have to juggle around some toolbar items. Best way is to get a copy of a screenshot of IE7 and compare the two till you get it right. I even replaced all my FF icons with IE icons throughout my system, and hid the real IE icons in other places not readily visible. This look is so close at times I catch myself saying, " Why did I open IE?" I have actually closed it a few times before remembering that it is actually FireFox!
