Office 2007: The Rumors are true
Remember when we told you that Microsoft was giving away copies of Vista and Office 2007 as part of their "Power Together" campaign? They weren't blowing smoke. I received my copy of Office 2007 yesterday in the mail. It didn't come with an actual CD, only a license key and the URL to download it, but I did get it in the end. If you had been wondering if you would ever get yours, that is if you ever got the website to work at all, and completed the 3 webcasts you had to watch, you should get it soon (if you haven't already). I just thought you should know that Microsoft did live up to what they said, which makes this geek happy. I feel like I stuck it to the man, getting their software (which is usually expensive) for free, legally, and all shiny to boot.Oh, did I mention that if you weren't able to get the site to work or couldn't complete the offer to get Vista, we are giving away a few copies of it. Sadly, we don't have copies of Office to give away.

I got them both yesterday as well...That's how they gave away copies of Office on their Launch Tour last month as well - They gave me a disc that had just a little bit of info about Office (& Groove), but the envelope had the web address for downloading the trial version but you used the activation key that was printed on it, making it legit. At least they did give us the actual disc for Vista though, and I have to say, it's pretty neat looking as far as optical media is concerned...

Although, I must add, due to the combined value of both Vista and Office, they required me to file a W-9 form for taxes, since it is considered income when you get both...

Haha, I too am a broke college kid, and it was great to read these posts this morning that everyone was receiving their copies of Vista and Office. As soon as I saw them I ran out to my mailbox and pulled out a wonderful manila envelope with "Microsoft" across the label. Lo and behold, it contained my own copies of Vista and Office 2007. It's great to know that the wasted day on the PowerTogether site and the unease about sending in that W-9 form paid off to culminate in this glorious geek moment!

Got mine yesterday too. Funny thing though, internet explorer kept crashing whenever I tried watching one of the webcast, but they all registered as complete. I "completed" them all within 5 minutes and didn't have to sit through anything.
Gotta love Microsoft progamming

I tried too, but IE crashed so often so I said what the heck and didnt complete. Would love to see if Vista/Office can make my life simpler, though.

Vista won't make your life any easier, but you'll have little choice if you stick to M$. You must change (eventually).
Office 2007 sucks... I am more productive with 2003 and I've tried both.
One of these days, I will will switch to Linux, I swear.

I couldn't get the darn site to work for me. :(
I'm already in for your copy. :)

Haha, yeah, I totally upgraded to Vista Ultimate early this morning for a mere $140. Not to shabby with the Business copy for free, eh?
