Perooz - abridged magazine articles for mobile devices
Perooz is an interesting service; the idea is to take magazine articles and stuff them into a set of image files that will display on an iPod or other mobile device. To view the article (text and pictures), you simply view a slideshow of the image files you've downloaded. The articles are not full-length, but long enough to get the gist of things, and include all of the imagery from the original article. This is important, since currently the selection of available magazines to choose from veers sharply towards the young male demographic, with lots of scantily clad ladies and articles about movies, music, video games and comics. If you're interested in trying out Perooz, note that there is no client software to download; the articles are provided in simple zip files containing the images numbered in order. Although they try to make things easy by labeling the downloads according to the device they're optimized for, since they are simple image files you can really use any of them. If your device is listed, I'd suggest downloading the appropriate file since it will be optimized for your screen, but if it isn't listed don't fret. Pick a device that has a similar screen to your device, and you'll be all set.
