Free Office 2007 Pro at Vista launch
Ya, that's right, Microsoft is giving away free copies of Microsoft Office Professional 2007, and Microsoft Office Groove 2007. There's always a catch though isn't there, and this promotion is no exception. Microsoft is holding "ready for a new day" launch events all across the US to show off and let users experience how Microsoft Vista and the Microsoft Office 2007 applications will empower people. In these sessions, Microsoft will teach users about the software, and how it will simplify how people work together, how it protects and manages content, improves business, and reduces costs. So, if you can withstand a day with Microsoft showing off their products, they are going to give it away to you for free. Not a bad deal. The tour website has a link where you can locate an event and register for it to reserve your free software copy. Have fun![Thanks for the tip Ryan D]

Sweet!
I am headed to the launch event in Greenville, SC.
I loves me some free software.

OK, who will be the first Microsoft basher to say "Why bother, just download Open Office?"

This is great! I've signed up and been confirmed. For a free Office 2007, I may actually buy Vista sooner than later.

Why bother just download Open Office. Yay I'm the first!

The fine print is that you don't actually get the software at the event, but you apparently get a 'download pin' or some such.
But free loot is free loot. And remember, MS is in the habit of giving away other goodies at these things...the last one I went to I wound up getting an early beta of Vista.

The free software will be distributed as a downloadable file.
This makes me =(

MS is fairly good about giving away loot at their shows. Last time, I got VS 2005 Std, and a Vista Beta.
Also, just as an FYI, if you're a college student, you can get your hands on most of their software cheap. I've been on the fence about taking some classes anyhow, but that's just all the more incentive.
Bust on MS all you want...but I can remember the bad old days before MS started their logo programs and made everyone adhere to some type of standards.
