Finger Frenzy - Today's Time Waster
This is probably the most simple Time Waster we've ever featured, but it's one that can be terribly addictive, particularly if you can get friends or co-workers involved. It's called Finger Frenzy, and the game is ridiculously basic. All it does is measure how quickly you can type the alphabet - that's it. You'd be surprised how hard it is to type the alphabet quickly and accurately. The letters don't roll off the fingers like you might think, since they're not in orders that commonly occur in written language. It makes the game far more challenging than you might imagine it to be.
And with a game that takes only 5 (or less) seconds to play, that's really all I have to say about it. Oh - post your scores in the comments. Mine is still too embarrassing to mention (over 8 seconds) but I haven't had a chance to practice yet.

I got down to 2/3 of a second by using AutoHotKey. But it wouldn't let me submit a high score (with the name "AutoHotKeyCheater"). It didn't give me an error, but clicking the SUBMIT SCORE button did nothing.

113 seconds.
It didn't help that s, w, v, and z don't work. I had to open the International pane of System Preferences, enable US keyboard, switch to US, type the letter, then switch back to Dvorak.
Those keys are ;, ,, ., and / on the qwerty keyboard. All the other letters are actually letters on qwerty, and they worked fine.
/sigh I wanted to see what I could get. Maybe flash for windows will work right on monday.

heh, I used applescript and keystrokes,
Managed 0.15... seconds, but it wouldn't let me submit a score if I did it, or applescript did it. Said there was "A problem with the server", but did it on my PC and it works aOK, but no applescript :p

Using a Logitech G-series macro keyboard, I got the time down to 0.15 seconds, but that clever program won't let me submit my high score if I'm cheating =P

My best time was 4 seconds exactly, but for all of you who tried to use macros or autohotkey to make it as fast as possible, you should realize by now that it rejects all times 1 second or less as impossible. Although I must ask, in all fairness, if you do find a way to make a macro to get a time of exactly 1.001 seconds, to not use it on the high score list.
