I shrunk my Gmail tab, but soon discovered that I missed the unread message number that shows up on the tab.

Great find, this'll go well with my Gmail and Google Reader tabs! But will it still allow the parenthesised number (the one that indicates I have new mail, or new feeds to read) to show on the tab? If not, this is basically useless to me.
BTW, you screwed up the link to the Add-ons page.

Update: Nope, doesn't allow the parenthesised number for your Gmail inbox count or feed count to be displayed. So it's useless in that aspect, unless you're inclined to check those tabs all the time to see if you have anything new. And yes, I know I could use Gmail notifier, but I don't like it.
So this might be handy for tabs that I don't want to close but have no dynamically updating info on them, but for Gmail and Reader, it's next to useless.

Ah, if only there were an Add-on for Firefox that would let you individually resize tabs by pulling on the sides of each one.

Beautiful
I only have 2 1600x1200 monitors at work, so space is at a premium. This is lovely. Wish I had known about it earlier.

Anyway, great extension, but needs a little more work, or another extension/gresemonkey script for reasons mentioned above.
What i have in mind is a greasmonkey script that would check the title of page. This way what you can do, is monitor that title, and if it changes, start flashing the favicon, or replace it.
I looked at it for a short period of time, and it seems to be pretty easy to implement. I think i will try it sometime this week.

It's a shame it doesn't remember which tabs were Iconized when you close and re-open them.
