Firefox 2 final officially available

Before downloading the update, I tried to use Help-Check for Updates, but it doesn't work, so I just download it straight from the site. :D

This is great. Although it'd be nice if the inline spell check automatically fixed grammatical errors. Hopefully this will seriously curtail the recent trend in not proofreading blog before posting them that certain famous sites have been doing (a few sister sites to this one especially).
All in all this is easily the best browser I've ever seen and the sheer number of tweaks and usability additions will seriously undermine the overblown IE7 hype.

Quick question, I updated to 2.0 yesterday and it is still showing the build number in the title bar. Have I completely upgraded (And this is something that stays there) or do I need to uninstall and reinstall to rid myself of the RC3?

It says Build 2006101023 if it helps at all. :)

Yeah, while the full release is the same as the release from yesterday the build # is built into the release candidate version. You may be able to just install over top of the existing install though.

Yeah, installing over it didn't work. I'll have to uninstall it I guess. Even after using the official installer it did nothing.

where did you download your version Josh? i got it yesterday on betanews and i don't see this phenomenon.

The Firefox 2.0 installation that I got from http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0&os=win&lang=en-US yesterday doesn't show any problems. It says "version 2.0" in the About screen, without "RC3" or anything.

I just updated mine. I have a problem with tabbed browsing. It seems that I can no longer use that add-on anymore. Does anyone knew where I could get the tabbed browsing add-on for firefox 2?

This is the same as RC3.

I have a small bug: After I finish customizing the toolbars, the top menu ("File," "Edit," etc.) stays grayed out, and the "Customize" entry on the right-click menu for the toolbars stays grayed out, too. Does anyone have a fix, or know anything else about it?

Josh, if you're using the Nightly Tester Tools extension, that's probably what's causing you to see the build number in the title bar. Go to the Titlebar section of the extension's options and uncheck "Use custom title" and that should fix it.

I have the same problem with the title bar. It's not a big deal but does seem kinda weird. In the about section it lists it as Firefox 2.0 but on the title bar it says (Build 20061010022). Monoto can you explain your method in bigger detail? I'm not sure what the Titlebar section your talking about. Thanks.

I already got firefox 2 these morning but I'm still skeptical in using it..

Great, now we get to deal with websites that don't have reasonable version checks all over again. I tried logging in to http://www.alaskaair.com/ with firefox 2.0 and I get a message telling me that I need a web browser with javascript enabled. I was able to go over to IE7 and log in just fine.

TabMixPlus isn't compatible with 2.0 but they've added a couple of features from that package to the base installation anyhow. Wait a few days for an upgrade notice on the TMP extension. I use it too and can't wait to get ALL the features back.

I'm using FF 1.5 at the moment and have an extensive bookmarks list. Will version 2.0 find all my bookmarks automatically?.
I had a problem with bookmarks when i went to 1.5 and don't want the hassle again.
