If I said to go search for something online, 95% of us would go to Google, search and be done in a second. What if I told you that now search has a human face, and some are saying a "sexy" face, though I really don't see it like that. I would call it more cheesy, overdone, melodramatic and dumb (not sexy). Heard of
Ms. Dewey? The new humanized search engine is full of dumb jokes and makes you wait extra long for very mediocre search results with nearly no UI to scroll down the page of results once you finally get them. Not to mention the horrible 30 seconds to a minute site loading time, which in my "I-love-my-super-fast-Google-search-world" is just unacceptable. Not really sure
why Dewey exists, but perhaps that is a question for her. I would rather ask Jeeves, and I don't even like Jeeves. Search should be something that you do, not that you must endure. A++ for dumbest site of the year.

This is designed for the same people who pay for "hot" screensavers.

hey, it doesn't have the speed of google, but it is way more entertaining!

I personally disagree with your views on this search engine. Before this becomes a flame war between Ms.Dewey and Google, let me first make this statement, Ms Dewey is not a Google killer in any way. But the site is innovative in the sense that it is something different. This wouldn't be my main search engine, but it's a nice alternative if there is some time to kill. It would be nice to see it as part of an MCE port and I do agree that the UI needs a little work (like incorporating the scroll wheel navigation). I just wanted to post this comment because I was wowed by the sight my first time using it, but I won't make it my permanent search engine. Thank you for your time, and I still have love for downloadsquad!

Hi Ryan,
I never comment on here, not even on Jason's posts, but I just couldn't pass this up! It is the dumbest thing i've ever seen (okay, maybe a little dramatic, but still pretty dunb)! I gave it a go and now I'm wishing I could have just taken your word for it. I'll never get those 45 seconds back!

@Chuck: Yeah, I hear what you're saying, and I doubt it is even intended to bea Google-killer. I'll also give you the fact that the idea is unique. I just don't see why it has to be so stupid. Why can't she be a bit less cheesy? That's all I am wondering at this point. I think it is a good idea, just not very well executed. If there was a much better ui for results, that loaded a bit faster, it would be a great idea. Throw in a Google-like algorithm for search that would yeild great results, and you have a winner here. Thanks for your comments.

Search for Stephen Colbert... It's been 3 minutes, and still waiting for an answer...

Dumbest. Site. Ever.
God, could it be any slower and any more annoying?
Why not just put "hot" random pictures in a themable "MyGoogle" or something - something that doesn't suck...
I guess smoe people will like how she tries to seduce the camera every 3 seconds, looks like Katherine Harris waving her boobs around...
rasbillOct 19th 2006 6:27PM
am i the only one that finds her unattrative, and i dont know if it happened to all of us, but the screaching well wearing headphones after it loaded was sooo annoying
rasbillOct 19th 2006 7:02PM

I'd hit it.
And I think that this is the point.
She's supposed to be the naughty librarian.
MarioOct 20th 2006 4:59PM
fun to play with for a little while.
Searches which elict funny responses (search more than once) she will respond differently:
"Ho" she will eventually get pretty mad
"Howard Stern" she makes a funny remark about him

OK, that is truly lame. She does seem like a gal who's adept at downloads, though.

Funny... some years ag, i said almost the same bad things about a stupid white box, used to play mp3, wich was veeery expensive "Why would i want an iPod? my sony discman plays mp3, was way cheaper, and i can use RW discs" And now everyone and their moms have one.
I see it as a nice concept, a very fresh idea, for a not so far future. Today she may be the naugthy librarian wannabe, tomorrow, she may actually tell you some interesting data about your search, and even interact with you. She may not be a Google killer... yet.

you are such a Google fan. only Google heads would bash other companies for new ideas like this. Google's not perfect either you know. sheesh next thing I know you're going to start saying Dribble. Sure it may take a while but it's still entertaining way to get search results. At least it's something different than what you see out there. I wouldn't search on it all the time either, but I wouldn't mind doing it leisurely. Say what you want but I still think it's cool though. So don't poison the minds of others like this.
