"...that the YouTube service is going to make everyone happy."
...except the users.

IT WON’T WORK! STOP IT ALREADY WITH THIS DRM NONSENSE!! “CONTENT SEEKS UBIQUITY” PERIOD!! AND THE WAY YOU FIX IT, (DRUM ROLL PLEASE,) IS BY (TASTEFUL, ART IMITATING LIFE TYPE) PRODUCT PLACEMENT (I.E. YES PEOPLE DO DRINK COKE IN REAL LIFE) WITHIN THE CONTENT!
WHAT THIS DOES IS SHIFT THE PARADIGM 180 DEGREES (I.E. SURE, YOUTUBE MY CONTENT ALL YOU WANT. I - NBC, GETS PAID FROM THE ADVERTISER EVERY TIME SOMEONE VIEWS THAT CONTENT.).
$$$$$$$ CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING!! $$$$$$$

Frankenstein - But then everything becomes one big ad. That would suck.

If you’re saying we can’t trust the Corporations to simply imitate life in a natural, unobtrusive way and not SPAM the content to death by butchering the artist’s intent with product place adnausium, then your right! I say to bad for them if they can’t implement product placement in a natural, real life way. I see it as the silver bullet to their DRM woes.
What’s the alternative? A never ending battle and billions of wasted dollars in a “I create a new DRM scheme and some werewolf name Jon breaks, reverse engineers or adds his own “for sale DRM?”. Remember, content seeks ubiquity and as long as the human eye can see it and the ear can hear it, it will be “have-able” and after all isn’t that the point? (i.e. yes I want many to see, hear and enjoy my work). So stop trying to patch the never ending holes in the bucket and just paint the water green and let it floooooow. The current course of action is just plain silly I tell ya, and it’s a battle that they JUST WON’T WIN!
