Zune will be just under $250
As you might have heard, Microsoft has set Zune's price at $249.99 for it's official launch on November 14th. Sure, it is technically more expensive than Apple's iPod with the same storage, but only by $0.99. With extra features that you can't get on an iPod, like wireless sync and sharing, why wouldn't you at least check out a Zune? The kicker is that Microsoft's Zune store will have to be incredible. If it is, Microsoft may be able to steal some of the market away from Apple. I doubt that Real's Rhapsody service and Sansa's hardware together will do any harm to Apple, but Microsoft has potential for some digital carnage. Let the games, um, continue.

This is not viral, this is just sick. How much money are you getting to hype the Zune? It is ugly, bulky, uncool, it won't do what you're saying (no wireless sync), it will be history like the other MS "viral" product that was supposed to sweep the world... what was its name again? Ah, yes, the Origami... big deal!

Actually, Microsoft announced that you will be able to share music through wireless but you won't be able to sync to your PC. At least not yet.

Big deal is right. engadget had some photos to compare it with the 80 gig iPod, (not even the 30 gig which would be the same class and direct competitor) and it was absolutely massive. I would like to see it next to the 30 gig. I'm all for new portable media players, but to have wifi built in and not be able to sync it or use it to access the internet wirelessly, or to be even able to access the Zune store is just poor, poor planning on Micro$oft's part. As many other people have said, wait a few weeks for the linux crack and then it might have some possibilities.

First of all, I get paid nothing to hype Zune. We don't accept bribes of any kind. Secondly, I think Zune has potential, which is what I said. I don't know if I am completely on-board with the idea either, but as a consumer player, I think a lot of people will like it. Simple interface, minimal design, and the wifi we've been promised at some point is worth taking a look at. I don't hear Apple announcing wifi on their iPod, I don't care how much space it has. Do you remember what the first iPod looked like? It sucked design-wise. No one chooses to see their start, which leads me to think that perhaps Microsoft's player will be decent...eventually.

I'm not sure it's fair to say the design of the first iPod sucked. The thing is, it was about the same size as the Zune. The wireless sharing seems to be the only advantage of the Zune, and in its current form it's barely a benefit. Maybe it's good, but it sure is big.

It is disappointing for now but in 2 years it is going to be the coolest player

I really like how almost everyone that posted was extremely biased; totally bashing on the Zune. I, too, think that the Zune has potential and would consider getting one once I have the money.

The Zune bashing is rediculous. "Massive"? It's just a little bit bigger. And I dont thing it's ugly. I've NEVER liked the look of the iPod. White/black with shiny silver and a grey scroll? UGHH!!! It's another case of Apple, "We say it's cool, so it is."
The zunes has an awesome design, the same color front to back, with that awesome splash of color on the edge. Everyone is bashing the brown, but with the green accent, it looks really cool and natural. And the black-blue combo is just hot.
And the interface? Nice, much cooler than that disgusting "aqua" motif of Mac/iPod.
SO why is everyone hating? It's because this is from Microsoft, and someone actually willing to stand up against Apple. Don't you see, Apple is even more proprietary and "evil" than Microsoft!
I support the Zune.
