Store, organize, and share bookmarks with Pocket
Pocket is an online application that allows users to store, organize, retrieve, and share bookmarks. It's a fresh idea on social bookmarking, and a little more complicated than services like del.icio.us.
Upon registering at ThinkPocket.com, users can visit and check out sites. When a site is reached that you want to keep track of, you click on a browser bookmarklet, which launches an overlay where you can bookmark, tag, and create notes for the particular site. Pockets can either be kept private, or shared amongst whoever you give your unique Pocket address too. This is a great online application, but I do think it ads a lot of unnecessary prettiness and functionality to something that I want to do quick and easily. It is fun to fiddle around with though.

Besides being able to choose between publicly sharing certain bookmarks, how is this service different from the current solution of del.icio.us + del.icio.us firefox extension: http://del.icio.us/help/firefox/extension I'm skeptical.

Yeah, that is a lot of extra work for no good reason.
There are some things I don't like about del.icio.us, but I have yet to find a better combination of features.
Also, the color scheme on the Pocket site is very hard to read. Some of the text is so dark and low contrast it's nearly unreadable.

And this is different from Furl in what way?
I'd like to find out, but I'm one of those IE users Pocket doesn't care about.

I've just tested it and am very unimpressed.
I doesn't add a real value to the social bookmarking community, it looks kinda pretty but that's all, and this AJAX stuff is slowing down everything.
I think i will stick with del.icio.us until the new killer-app arrives.
