Xtorrent: A better bittorrent for Mac
Phill Ryu writes about Xtorrent (not yet released), apparently the Mac-daddy of BitTorrent clients for Mac written by David Watanabe (of Limewire fame). Xtorrent does many things better than many of the clones according to Phill. He says David will release Xtorrent in the next couple of weeks to beta, so crack out your Macs and lighters to burn the digital shrink-wrap off this puppy and give it a whirl. I was just wishing that there was an Xtorrent for PC, because it sounds really good, and looks really good, but unfortunately for me (on a PC) it doesn't run really good on a PC (translation: it doesn't run at all). Phill promises updates on Xtorrent as they come on his blog, so stay tuned for more on this interesting application.

If you're having trouble using other mac bit torrent applications as you've said on your blog "Not the most user friendly process" Have you ever actually tried?
The official mac bit torrent program works a little like this:
1. Download .torrent file
2. Double Click .torrent file
3. Choose where you want to save it
4. Dance around while you wait for your download to complete.
As for the "Search for Torrent" option, he's promoting Ninja Torrenters. ie. People who jump on to simply download a file, and then run away, not seeding it at all.
I sure hope he doesn't decide it should be shareware either, the number one reason I don't use Acquisition is that "WHOAH! LOOK AT ME, I'M JUMPING IN THE DOCK AND YOU HAVE TO CLICK ME AND THEN CLICK I WANNA REGISTER LATER" it seems to be quite intrusive with the urge to want to be registered.
It's just a more expensive way to do the thing you do with the free programs.

Xtorrent uses libtransmission as its backend which comes from the FREE and EASY TO USE client Transmission. There are other easy to use clients as well, like Tomato. As for a PC version uTorrent easily outclasses Xtorrent from a feature point of view. Of course it isn't as sexy but that is due to the framework the programmers are given to work with.
