Browzar covers your tracks on the web
Paranoid? Really paranoid? Browzar might be for you. Browzar lets you "search and surf the web without leaving any visible trace on the computer you are using." When you quit Browzar, it completely erases your tracks--history, cache, cookies, everything. It also eliminates auto-complete on text fields. What's more, Browzar is a tiny (264kb) portable app, so you can take it with you on your USB drive (or, heck, a floppy disk), for safe browsing in internet cafes, public libraries, or your parents' house. Oh, and it's free and available for Windows, with Mac OS X and Linux versions coming soon.Check out some screenshots of Browzar, courtesy of DLS blogger Chris Gilmer, after the jump.

Viewing CNN.com - load times for websites seem comparable to any other browser in the marketplace.

Browzar does have its own start page if you are interested.

However, I felt that the search results were not the best.

The browser window has a nice feel. Unfortunately, there is no access to view website source of any kind.

It's only available for Windows right now. Mac OS X and Linux are supposed to be coming soon.

Thanks, Cool Frood, I've corrected the post.

What's that??? ;)

I'm guessing it's based on IE since that's a requirement. Can anyone confirm this?
One known issue for those too to read the faq:
When I use site based applications like Google Mail or Writely I can't do a carriage return
This is a known problem and we are working on a fix for this. In the meantime: to make carriage return on Googlemail press CTRL + M, to create a carriage return in Writley use CTRL + SHIFT + M

Why not just use Portable FireFox?

But, sorry folks,
because as any good conspiracy theorist crank will tell you:
Browzar is ( of course ) just a trap by "Them" thepowersthatbe
to make you use Browzar and, while you are feeling safe,
actually make it that much easier to track you down.
Hahaha.
The dead giveaway is that "zar" and that "brow"
in the Browzar name...
...it refers to the Brow Of The Tzar,
to the face of Zardoz, etcetera blablabla...

Scott Hanselman says otherwise: A New Private Browser - I mean Browzar - does not work as advertised. I guess it doesn't actually flush the cached pages; just the exciting stuff associated with those pages.

The link would help with that, wouldn't it?

There's not even an option to set your own home page in this browser. So you have to stick with the built in engine unless you edit the binary file with a hex editor:

Browsar is shit. Nothing more as an very though compiled companion of IE. It's ad- and spyware FULLY. When you are use it then tracks you, your job, and reports - and when you are done - browsar is also done - clears everything (but not everything). And for the spy-job money goes... Simply isn't?
