Microsoft has announced that it will release Speech Server 2007 (what, no small "s"?) as
part of Office Communications Server (OCS). This is part of Microsoft's continuing focus on unified messaging. They will soon release Speech Server APIs to complement the new version of Speech Server. Microsoft Exchange 2007 will also include many unified messaging features to bring a new level of enterprise messaging to companies. Speech Server is currently used by many businesses, and show some promise for future applications of personal assistants and speech enabled applications. The demo CD I got in the mail about a year ago showed a lot of promise for this lesser-known Microsoft product. It shows promise for streamlining many office communication processes that are currently non-existent or impossible.
