Frets on Fire - Todays Time Waster
Have you noticed the seemingly unending buzz around the PlayStation 2 game Guitar Hero? If you don't have a PlayStation, but are curious about that type of game, you might like to check out Frets on Fire, a free guitar-themed music game for Windows and Linux. Although it doesn't feature the licensed popular music that the commercial name-brand game contains, it still has some pretty hot tracks and frantic gameplay.
The game has some serious attitude, the likes of which you won't see in most (but not all) retail games. It's not graphic, but the language in the game could be considered somewhat colorful or offensive to some. I realize that's not really a big deal for most, but it's worth mentioning. You can view a video demo of Frets on Fire after the jump (note, as the game does, the demo includes a couple of potentially offensive words).

This great game has won the Gamedev competition at Assembly 06. Note that the game features a track editor :)

Been playing this game for a couple days now, and it's so much fun. I can't find any more songs for download to import though. Anyone know of a place where we can find more songs?

IT'S A TROJAN HORSE ACCORDING TO AVG! I can't believe you guys did not scan it before showing it to the public!
Click on my link, it's the proof!
To add insult to injury, it does not work!
And it's displaying obscure error messages like : OpenGL.GL.GLerror: [Errno 1280] invalid enumerant
Come on guys! Clean up your act!

the trojan response is a false positive, The latest update of AVG clears that up. I tried it yesterday, there's lots of potential! I already want to start editing songs to work with it.

The trojan issue has been taken care of and works fine as of last night.

Thanks guys!
Ya know, I really appreciate your site. I know I got a bit rude, sorry. Spyware is not rampant these days.
Thank you very much for your response!
Yan.

I just started playing this game for 3 days yet, and boy, I'm oh so addicted to it. So, will this be an outlet for a frustrated musician? Hehe...Would you guys know where to get more songs though? Thanks
