Surf safely at work with workFRIENDLY
What, your boss isn't cool with you spending five hours of your workday surfing the web? I guess I don't know the feeling, but I can sympathize, and I can also help you out: workFRIENDLY is a simple web service that turns any web site into an uncanny doppelganger of Microsoft Word, so you can look like you're working on "important documents" when you're actually looking at "important sports scores." workFRIENDLY strips out all the images (sorry, "photography" aficionados) and coloring from a web site and changes the format to look like a bland old word document, then wraps it up in fake Word chrome. You can even choose between Word 2003's blue or silver themes, and there's a handy "boss key" that replaces the web page with something even more work-friendly: anti-procrastination tips. workFRIENDLY is free, easy, and clever, and I highly recommend you [Via kottke.org]

If you're interested in this, check out Ghostzilla.

It works in "any" application, and makes a Mozilla window inside of it, with varying levels of transparency. You can make it instantly disappear, only to return with a keystroke combo.
Ghostzilla is an actual application, where workFRIENDLY is a web service that encapsulates a "Word-like" window in a web browser window. Still looks like a web browser window. But with a Word doc in it.
Try Ghostzilla if you're really wanting to hide Web pages in other applications.

Images might be gone but embedded you tube windows are still there.

This still doesn't stop the IT department from knowing what you are doing. This is a great way to get fired for sheer stupidity.
