Google and Mozilla have another distribution partner
Google and Mozilla know how to push their software out to the masses. People love their software, and do pretty much anything to get it out there, either through word of mouth, or through distribution deals with the likes of Dell and other major players in the technology industry. Google and Mozilla have teamed with RealNetworks to distribute their popular software even further. For the past few years Google has already had a partnership with Real for software distribution. Now another multi-year deal was recently struck between the three companies, giving users the option of downloading and installing Firefox, and the Google Toolbar when they are downloading RealPlayer. Hooray for Google and Mozilla! More exposure for these killer applications.

Pity it's with "RealNetworks". I haven't used Real in years and years. I usually tell everyone I know to stay as far away from them as possible and use Real Alternative instead.
I suppose they will still get exposure from the millions and millions that don't know or care about what RealNetworks software does to their computer.

No. 1 is right. It's almost impossible to remove RealNetworks contamination. Fortunately fewer items are distributed on Real exclusively. If you must play something distributed in Real download and install Real Alernative.

I third that vote for RealAlternative. Real shouldn't put that junk on people's computers. To me, real is a dead format. MPEG and even WMV are better alternatives and don't force the crapware on you. Good for Google and Firefox. Perhaps anyone who downloads Firefox or Google toolbar will have a chance at SOME decent software on their computer.

Aligning with Real is not a good move. People avoid Real like the plague because of the software it installs with it if you dont pay attention.

Way to go Real! Finally tied yourself to some quality so maybe people won't realize that your own product hoovers like nothing else.

So far it's unanimous. I'm all for getting Firefox on every computer out there, but I also think anyone caught using RealPlayer deserves a swift kick in the back of the head.

Looks like Google is trying to make partnerships with whomever possible these days. Does Microsoft make such a threat?

Maybe if Google and Mozilla play their cards right they can get a partnership with the next big virus! Or maybe they could offer their toolbar with a rootkit!

Yuk! Realnetworks really suck. I can't see why Google and Mozilla would like to align themselves with a company with such a poor reputation.

What everyone else said before me. Real = evil.
However, the deal goes with people who want to install real, they have the option to also get firefox and the googgly toolbar.
So it is not a concern for the sane person (sane people would not want to download real player)
