Google Talk File Transfer, Voicemail, and Music Status Update
Google has just released a great new version of Google Talk. This new version has all the goodies people have been asking for. This new feature list includes:
- File Transfer - Send unlimited files and folders to contacts. With no restrictions on file size.
- Voicemail - If your buddy isn't answering his/her call, leave a message. A voicemail message. And even if your friend doesn't use Google Talk, they can still receive it in a nice little attached audio file.
- Music Status - Show what tunes you are currently listening to.

In case anyone is wondering why they are not seeing these new features, the Google Talk Blog says:
"So today, we're excited to be releasing these features to a small percentage of Google Talk users. We'll be rolling these features out to all Google Talk users on the U.S.-English interface in the coming weeks."

A "small percentage of Google Talk users" just means its a testing version and you can download it for those who dare from Customize Talk

Adam: Being based on XMPP/Jabber, Google Talk does actually support adding contacts on legacy networks like MSN and Yahoo. You just have to add a transport for the legacy network and you're ready to go. There's a tutorial on how to do so available here http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/google-talk-news/33739-connect-google-talk-aim-msn-yahoo.html - however, please note that you have to find another transport than ursine.ca, as it has been closed for non-ursine users.

Also read the EULA! Google talk will phone home without the user knowing to check for updates. This would be fine if the user had control over this but there isn't an option to turn this "feature" on or off in prefrences. I uninstalled Google Talk because of this.

I'm using googletalk through ichat. My friend is trying to download a file to me but it won't work. Am I missing something in order for it to work? Thanks!
