Google Bench Ads
No news yet as to the validity of these Google Bench ads, and the photo that was posted on WebmasterWorld. The photo has the number and name of the media company blocked out.The copy reads:
YOUR AD HERE
Google "BENCHADS"
1-800- ???????
Become Part of ???? Growing Media Co.
Pretty interesting stuff, but I highly doubt that Google is getting into the bus bench ad industry. Good laugh nonetheless.

Actually, it is true. Earlier this week I was on my way to work, and I noticed seeing google through my periferal vision on my right. I thought, hey thats weird, but I knew it was google because Im a fanboy.
Anyway the next day I look for it, and there it was, the same ad as in the picture above.
I thought to myself that it must be some kind of joke, that perhaps someone put a google bumper sticker on the bench. But now I'm just seeing this and I now that it is true.
I forgot to go check it out today, but I will go try and take a picture and post it here tommarow.

Thanks Jonathan - let me know if you happen to get a shot of it! This is pretty interesting stuff!

maybe they were just using google as a verb, and not as implied partnership. if they had used "look up 'BENCHADS' on google" instead of using the actual google logo, it definantly wouldn't have stuck out as much. http://www.google.com/search?q=BENCHADS

I get it flipp. Why wouldnt they just put their URL on the bench? I wonder if they are getting much better traffic results to their website as a result?

Is it just me, but instead of "bench ads" i see "ben chads"

I think they mean, look up 'benchads' on Google. Like Flipp said.

I've still been too lazy to leave my house today, but I checked out the post at WebmasterWorld and the guy that took the pic actually lives near me so he probably saw the same bench as me. I posted last night if he saw it on the same street I saw it in Florida, but today when I went to check, the topic has been deleted.
I guess WebmasterWorld got too much unwanted traffic?
But I'm begining to think that the bench ad must be trying to take advantage of the google logo while using google as a verb (since it is now a real word in the english dictionary), and I think google should sue the company.
I'm gonna send Google an email as soon as I take the pic and post it here. (If I even leave the house. Stupid RSS feeds got me hooked to the computer)
