ExtremeTech is running the sort of round-up article I've been waiting to see:
Opera 9 vs. Firefox 2 vs. Internet Explorer 7. While the latter two are both in beta, ExtremeTech gives them all a thorough go-'round. The review also includes some revealing benchmarks, testing their memory usage with and without a bunch of open tabs (spoiler: IE wins with one tab, Opera wins with a bunch) as well as their start-up time (Opera is the best, and Firefox is the worst by a wide margin) and Acid2 standards test performance (Opera). ExtremeTech gives all three browsers high marks and doesn't declare a "winner": Firefox wins points for security and extensibility, Opera impresses with its mature tab implementation, and IE7 seems to have done quite a lot of catching up.

I tried the three,in fact i have installed all of them. And well i did not like IE, Opera works well but im faithful to Firefox.
What i like most of Firefox is the beauty of have so many kick ass plugins and good looking themes.
Firefox could be the best by far if they manage to fix the utilization of RAM. It is a RAM Hunger.

bad article.
from a developers point of view opera's and firefox's tech is far superior than that of ie. just have a look at the browser comparision tables on wikipedia - they tell the truth.
it doesn't make much sense to sum up a comparision by putting things like "can restore tabs" in a table with about a handful of rows and then give a suggestion.
i don't think the authors really know about browsers, features or layout engines. and the last part is very important.

I'm currently using all 3 and Netscape 8. I've just recently started using Opera, and I must say, I really like it. I'm using it on an XP box and a Linux(ubuntu) box. I like the integrated Bittorrent client, but the download speeds seem to be slower than Azureus.

Ya well, i admit it, i go to crack sites, and the newst ie (beta 3) still gets bombarded with malicious scripts and adware, even with all the new security, microsoft needs to completely redo there engine, or they will always be targeted. On the other hand, havent tried opera, but firefox is the best, other than some sites looking differnt in firefox than in ie (this is do to poor css coding)

opera is the best bcz of it's image browsing capability. user can easily stop image downloading, that speed-up browsing!
