An alternative guide to free music online

Thousands of artists are publishing music via the Internet, and a great number of them are finding out that, while it can help, they don't necessarily need a major label deal to find exposure and make money doing what they love.

*The Alternative Music Show and shows like it that showcase all kinds of downloadable bands.
All those acts really wouldn't mind getting a few bucks for their work, but they want distribution, too, so that you can help spread the seeds of their hard work. By all means, get out there and look. Check out MySpace, too. Bands are making and breaking themselves in that cluttered, eye-killing, crazy site.
