I should preface this post by pointing out that embedding music (or any sound) in a web page that automatically starts playing when the page loads is
really, really obnoxious. That said, if you're a musician or run a music blog or anything like that, it's essential to be able to embed music in your web site. While both Windows Media and QuickTime are pretty well-supported formats, you can't beat the installed base (something like 97% of all browsers) of Flash. And though I'm sure it's not the only one of its kind,
Flash MP3 Player looks like a great way to embed MP3 music in your site. Flash MP3 Player is nice and compact and very configurable, allowing you to change its colors or add a JPEG background image, show or hide the playlist and song info, load XML or RSS playlists, and more. The player itself is less than 10kb, and it's released under a Creative Commons license that makes it free (including source code and .FLA file for embedding in other Flash movies) for non-commercial use, and dirt cheap (US$19) for commercial use.

musicplayer.sourceforge.net is an open-source mp3/music player for the website that is really easy too. I would also recommend the XSPF player. :)
