In depressingly unsurprising news, Microsoft's lawyers have cease-and-desisted
Windows Vista Torrent off the face of the planet. The site, which was set up last week by Chris Pirillo and Jake Ludington, provided a BitTorrent tracker to take the load off of Microsoft's servers from downloads of Windows Vista Beta 2. The tracker was completely unauthorized, but provided an unaltered (i.e. downloaders still needed to legally obtain a license key from Microsoft before installing) copy of the beta for users who couldn't get through on Microsoft's servers. Nobody, least of all Pirillo and Ludington, were surprised when they received a not-especially-clueful cease & desist letter from Microsoft's lawyers, which you can read at the Vista Torrent web site.

And D just so YOU don't look foolish... it's grammatically incorrect to say "on accident" it is "by accident" or even better, "accidentally".

Why not, you know, just use MS's servers? At the very least you're sticking it to the man by using their bandwidth.

I downloaded the ISO form microsoft and it was corrupted. I found and downloaded the torrent, verified up to 99.2% and then used the torrent to fix the corrupt iso downloaded with the downloaded that they suggested. If they can't get it right then maybe they should have released it as a torrent in the first place.

Where can I find the MD5 checksum for the .iso ? I don't find that on Microsoft's site, and I don't understand why... I would be pleased if anyone could post the MD5 here or give me a link ! [I have downloaded vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso]...
