any idea if there's a tool that can do something like this server-side?

I know there are a bunch of flash zoom widgets out there.... but they all seem to require client-side intervention to actually generate the flash file.

(Long story: I'm working on a project that's cataloging and documenting a large number of historical photographs and a number of high-resolution pictures of archaeological finds for use in lectures. If I could display the high-res photos using this method, it would be amazing......)
