Skypecasts: Live group voice chats with Skype

SkypeThe party line boom was a bit before my time, but Skype seems poised to update the concept for the digital age with Skypecasts, which are now being previewed in the newest beta version of Skype. The Skype beta blog decribes Skypecasts as "live, moderated conversations allowing groups of up to 100 people from anywhere in the world to talk to one another." The "moderated" part seems to be key, allowing a "host" to "mute, eject or pass the virtual microphone to participants when they wish to speak." Participating in a Skypecast is free, but you'll have to download Skype 2.5 Beta, which is Windows-only.
