We mentioned
Helio and their deal with MySpace a few months ago.
Now
Helio is teaming up with Yahoo!
to bring search, messenger, mail, and several of their content services to the phone provider. The
Yahoo press release is here.
Helio is billed as a "youth oriented" mobile service. So the MySpace deal made sense. Yahoo isn't exactly for
the geezers out there, but one could argue, having been on the web for some time, it caters to a broader audience. So
what's the big deal? Can't you get Yahoo goodies on web-enabled phones already? I noticed the Yahoo360 stuff was
missing from the provided services, and you'd think that would be perfect for the youngsters out there... Unless
they're socializing with MySpace, which they are...

Yeah, alright Helio. Let's quit adding crap onto a service that doesn't exist yet. Get some handsets and service plans on the website, then focus on adding value....
