Google Calendar is live and it rocks
You read that right. Google Calendar is finally—finally!—live. Somewhat surprisingly, it's dropped the "CL2" moniker it had during development, and very unsurprisingly the logo says BETA. Brad Hill over at the Unofficial Google Weblog has written up a nice review of Google Calendar in which he says "it rocks," it's "brain-dead simple to use," and "as of today I have used Yahoo! Calendar for the last time." I've given it a few pokes and though it would be perhaps too bold of me to predict that Google Calendar will do for web-based calendars what Gmail did for webmail, I will say that it's a great piece of work and suddently Yahoo! has a lot of catching up to do. Head over to TUGW for Brad's full review or go straight to calendar.google.com to get started. That is, as long as the site's not completely hosed by the time you read this.

The last thing i need to completely get rid of Outlook is PocketPC Scny over SyncML or whatever. Or did i overlook something - is this already possible.

Unfortunately it seems the public demand is too strong for the servers at the moment. I've been trying to access Google Calendar all day now, and so far I've not gotten access.
Okay maybe it's because I'm trying from overseas, who knows. But I'm excited to have a new toy to play with. And I'm still searching for a good calendar app. ;-)

While google calendar is rather good, its inability to sync with outlook or exchange servers is a liability. I have a pocket pc, a phone and an ipod all synced to my outlook, exsuring i never ever miss an appointment. Google calendar synced as well would seriously rock......

Been working with it all morning... So far it seems to be just what I have been waiting for. Intigration with Gmail could be better though.

So what did Gmail for webmail?

What a nicely done app. I like how they set it up so all you have to do is keep writing without needing to grab the mouse click on the date then another click to select the time and finally the last click to submit the entry.
I like the way the quick add works, i think its brilliant and very innovative.
Im just hoping that Google will do more then just slap the calendar into a personalized google page. I can't click anything nor knowing what the shedule look like for that particular date.

How is it really different from 30boxes?

Bah, let me know when Safari is supported and I'll give it a shot.

i have a question about duplicate events... i would like to be able to click and drag one event to another day and have google calendar give me the option of moving it or simply copying the event to another day. because if you select the event and drag it to another day, google calendar will only MOVE the event and wont ASK to either COPY or MOVE it.
also, when you edit the event under 'more actions/duplicate event' there is no way to select every monday, or every tuesday, etc... anyone know any ways around these quirks in repeating events?

This is great.. I'm much happier than I was with the cal for thunderbird and I can import my works outlook calendar which is great ..
To the person above.. the rss is under shared.. there is two forms of rss.. one for public one for private.

No printing, other than a simple browser print. This is probably make it a non-starter for me, for now.

Very nice, i'm much pleased :)
Now they just need to link all their services together with one easy to naviagte system.
JferthApr 25th 2006 2:07PM
Downloaded it this morning, love the features thus far but...I agree with Blake, I don,t think you have the ability to "place" the new calender on my Google Homepage (beside my DownloadSquad link).
I also hope they will make it possible to sync with my Palm Treo datebook application (without having to go thru Outlook).
Overall, I like it alot!

This looks like it may be a great app someday. I think it needs to be able to print in a variety of standard planner formats.
