Make your Windows look like OS X - Today's Mod
With all the excitement of Boot Camp, and the ability to now run Windows on a Mac, what about the rest of us? Those of
us that use Windows out of necessity, and lust after a Mac yet can't afford or justify the purchase of one. What to do?
Well, you can make your Windows XP PC look as much like a Mac as possible.
To do so, you can follow the instructions at Tech Manifesto. Or, if you're like me, simply download FlyakiteOSX and let it do all the heavy lifting for you. Be warned that the install for FlyakiteOSX takes quite a bit longer than you might imagine. But it's still faster (or at least more efficient) than doing the transformation manually.
But there you go - for the control freaks, we have a tutorial at Tech Manifesto. For the rest of us, there's FlyakiteOSX. Enjoy.

I installed flyakite on a friend's dell, and it completely screwed it up. Windows wouldn't boot or anything. It worked fine on my lappy though...

Not at all. You have to completely format your hard drive to get rid of it.
not really, it should uninstall like any other program

Yea it can be uninstalled without any problems. Cause I use it for a while and no problems.
Just to be safe just create a Restore point before you instill FlyakiteOSX.

the ones in the screenshot (after) on the website are pretty bad. not to be picky or anything, but you can get xp to look 100% identical in looks AND (almost 100%) function (spotlight, the menubar, finder, dock, shadow, etc.). www.osx-e.com and www.aqua-soft.org are two sites that have everything you need to get goin'. a bit of sifting and you'll have a xpmac. guaranteed.

I'm wondering whether the system font it switches to is really supposed to look like this, or whether the font is absent from my system (and doesn't come with FlyakiteOSX) and it is thus defaulting to something much less attractive than what I had. Does anyone know?

Yeah, yeah Mac OSX is pretty, and everything. But that wears off very soon (at least for me), because I'm only looking at my desktop for maybe 2 seconds, and then I'm in Firefox. Oh and whenver I install Flyakite0sx I get spyware.

When I installed this, it got an error in making a system restore point. Then it proceeded in installing anyway - without the ability to cancel.
I uninstalled, and now I get occasional random system errors - like when changing desktop properties. I have to dig out my Windows system CD and hope that I can "repair" Windows now.
Also, my sound settings and desktop properties have been changed to Windows default, and MS Excel still has the Mac-style icon.

I installed flyakite on a fresh xp install 4 months ago.
It works great for me, I love it.
