Virtually all current XP drivers on one CD
You really have to see this to believe it.
Some poor soul has decided to try to amalgamate the latest version of every known software driver onto one CD for the
purposes of creating an unattended Windows XP setup disk that would work on literally any PC. And it looks like he's making extremely good headway on this project!
So far there are 8 driver packs that make up the entire project, supporting: Chipset, CPU, Graphics, LAN, MassStorage, Sound, and WLAN. The final file, Driverpacks BASE contains all the required documentation and batch files to slipstream the drivers onto a Windows XP setup CD, and even includes an UpdateChecker to ensure everything is as up-to-date as it can be.

This is awesome. They should really get a standard going for drivers so when you installing a new OS, it jumps online and fetches the very latest drivers.
Slipstreaming this makes it easy, but damn... why do WE have to do this?

Should be a great resource. But I really like Cary's idea of having it all standardized, available at a public repository that can be queried by the OS installer. I also really like the idea of driving a Porsche, but that's probably still a ways off too.
Re: printers...Lower priority? I guess it's pretty easy to use another generic/OS-available print driver in a pinch (scroll directly to HP LaserJet 4), but much harder to use someone else's driver for your new sound card / NIC / etc...but it would be a nice-to-have...

Wait... you mean like Linux right? Because for me, a nice and quick "yum update" just makes so much sense...
