Google Accelerator is back, but for how long?
Continuing with their "everything is
beta" mantra, the Google Web Accelerator beta is
available— again. It was removed a while back because they had "reached their maximum capacity of
users." So, like their Pages effort (which I still can't seem to get an account for), this
download probably has a limited shelf life. Download the .msi while you can. Unlike other download accelerators,
Google's is designed for broadband connections. Does it work? According to Jason, it's saved at least 3.7 hours of his life. How much is it

My experience with this program wasn't overly pleasing.
I tested the program for two weeks, and observed the average load times. After the testing period, I rid myself of the program and tested using my normal firefox browser. I discovered that the websites I visited loaded faster while not using the accelerator. After talking to some other people, I found that they had had similar experiences.
My thoughts? I’m better off without this program.

I agree with Blake. No significant improvement. Infact, Google's performance data that shows how much faster I am with/without the accelerator and there's no difference (0.0 seconds saved). I'm running Maxthon, an I.E. shell that is 20 times better than anything Firefox could put out and I see no reason to keep this program (Google's Accelerator) around.

While I did have a good experience with it, and ended up saving a bunch of time (reasonably slow connection), I uninstalled it due to the privacy paranoia around it's launch. Don't know how comfortable I am with it, even now.

I have google accelerator and according to it it saved 2.2 hours. It makes a huge difference on some websites but only minimal if any difference on others.
P.s. with google pages, although they say you will be emailed when you get an account they may not email you. (they didnt email me) so just keep trying to log in.
