This is a clever twist on the concept of
RSS, but doesn't use RSS.
Monesafe fetches your bank and credit card info on a
regular basis, and updates that info live inside the application. Sounds risky doesn't it? According to the developer,
everything is encrypted, plus the app will lock if left idle after a period of time, so prying eyes can't get to it.
Personally, I didn't think this was useful to me, as my accounts are rarely that active... But there are some nice
features for us less spendy consumers out there. For one thing, constantly viewing your accounts could alert you to
fraud. You can also setup Monesafe to alert you when bills are due, and then pay them online. Possibly the most useful
feature is the anti-phishing tool, which checks URL's for fakeness against a large database. And yes, Monesafe is free,
but be advised that (just like all software out there) the developers are not responsible if you get your financial info
hijacked.
