Well,
sort of.
Calmira XP can at least make Windows 3.1
look a lot like Windows XP. Yes, it is a beta. No, it doesn't completely work (you know, drag and drop can
hang it up, just like real Windows!). And yet it's at version 4.0? But it's still pretty amazing. Really, wouldn't you
love to load this onto some floppies and travel back in time to show it off? Better yet, show Bill and company how you
got long filenames to (again, sorta) work. While you're there, grab me some lottery tickets. I'll want to ride my sub
to visit you and
Paul Allen on the
Octopus.

Funny, I NEVER have a problem with long filenames OR dragging and dropping contents in Windows anymore. Considering, though, that these comments came from the large group of Mac OS X operators at DownloadSquad, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Jason, I'm talking about long filenames in Windows 3.1, and the dragging-and-dropping issue is with Calmira. I was being tongue-in-cheek with that one, as obviously that function works just fine nowadays.

People still use Windows 3.1? Geez! I'm a computer consultant and I've been helping push people along to new computers and OS's for a long time and if any of my clients were using 3.1 I'd tell them to set sail, they've got themselves a boat anchor of a computer!

That's really funny. I thought it was kind of an old thing. Turns out the last update was yesterday.
Now yes, I wonder WHY someone has spent (wasted?) time and effort on something that irrelevant. It almost makes me want to reinstall a DOS+Win3.11 in a VMWare machine. *almost*
